Sharing my journey

Hello 👋🏼

I’m Sarwech. I’m a self-taught developer on the journey to building a bootstrapped business.

Before learning to code, I was a lawyer then an analyst then a growth marketer.

Over the past few years, I’ve come up with a number of ideas - some that I launched and some that I didn’t. Most of these were failures with the exception of only one which actually had a few customers.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what these were, in case it helps fellow indie hackers:

  • Food app to let you pay your bill without waiting for a waiter. Total revenue: $2.50.
  • A tool to give insight into which companies have high staff turnover. Didn’t launch.
  • Ad platform for bootstrapped businesses. Didn’t launch.
  • Business modelling and forecasting tool for early stage SaaS. $40.
  • A community for space enthusiasts with space founder interviews. $10.

If there’s interest, I might also share more on each of the previous projects and why they failed in future.

Right now, I’m working on Nocodelytics, an analytics tool for no-coders. It’s currently in beta and will be opening up to more users soon.

I’ve been speaking to potential users, getting their feedback on the MVP and refining the product to provide as much value as possible for v1.

I also started Space Bandits, a bit of a passion project where I share interviews with the founders of space startups.

I’ll share more on those soon!

So why am I launching this blog now and talking about my journey in the open?

I’ve been inspired by fellow indie hackers like Cory Zue and Chris Spags who’ve been sharing their progress for years now. I’ve learned a lot from reading their stories from the early days of building their products, how they overcame challenges and got their first few customers.

With that said, I have a few goals for this blog. These are to:

  • help anyone else that’s trying to validate an idea and get their first sales by sharing what I’ve learned
  • hold myself accountable by setting goals and doing monthly reviews to see if I met those those goals
  • bring some clarity by forcing myself to write about my thoughts and ideas (instead of just keeping them in my head)
  • just write more in general - and eventually write a book!

In the meantime, if you have any questions you can find me on Twitter (@sarwechs) or email me.
