September: slow and steady

September was a month of slow and steady growth. I also worked on important UX changes as I got Nocodelytics ready to open it up to more users.

Highlights

  • 8 paying customers +33%
  • $72 MRR +33%

Also getting things ready for a wider launch with a live demo page and revamped sign up.

Previous goals (September)

  1. Speak to 10 makers
  2. Share another blog post
  3. Ship the funnels metric (finally)

Results

  1. ❎ Spoke to 9 makers
  2. ❎ Did not do this
  3. ❎ Did not do this

This month I actually spent less time working on Nocodelytics than I did in August. I was spending a couple of days a week looking for contract work and had started a short term part time gig. I also spent a few days working on Space Bandits.

Along with all of this and some personal things that came up, I had a lot less time to work on Nocodelytics compared with the past months.

Plus, at the end of September I started working on a full-time contracting project which will mean I’ll be mostly doing that in October.

What did I achieve?

2 new customers signed up for Nocodelytics! I’m super excited that one of them is Makerpad, one of the biggest and best no-code communities.

I also made some small but significant product improvements

Updated the add metrics screen

I ditched the cards screen and went with a look that is more consistent with the rest of the flows.

Live demo page

Launched a live demo page

Live demo page

Revamped the sign up page

New sign up page

Improved the onboarding experience

Goals for October

As I’ll be working full-time in October, I anticipate I’ll only have some evenings and weekends to commit to Nocodelytics, so I’ll have to use this time wisely. Other indie hackers have shown they can still find success with minimal time. For example Tyler Tringas only had 10-15 hours a week to commit to StoreMapper and Chris Spags was balancing contracting work alongside running Jetboost. So I know it’s doable!

As I won’t have anywhere close to the time I’d like (maybe 10 or so hours per week), I’m going to focus on the things I think will move the needle the most. And when it comes down to it, it’s purely about sales.

So for the first time, I’m going to include revenue goals in here.

  • $100 MRR and 12 customers (only 4 away)
  • Ship the deep dive metrics view
  • Share another blog post and update the metrics guide
